Yes, I quit my job.

I quit my job in the midst of big tech layoffs. While everyone was forced to leave the company, I walked out on my own. I can actually list 100 reasons why I decided to quit, but let me just tell you the 3 big ones.

First, it was time. I was at Samsung for 10 years. I joined the company back in 2016, met great people I still hang out with, met the love of my life, got my green card, got promoted twice, honed my project management skills on top of all the other creative skills, expanded my leadership skills managing a team of 3 people. After all this, I knew it was time for me to take a big step.

The next reason — I'm a challenger and an explorer. I was not born this way but raised this way because I went to 8 different schools throughout my 12 years of educational life, from elementary to high school. During college, I took a gap year after my junior year because I needed to figure out what I really wanted to do. I thought I wanted to do accessories design back then. So I left school and worked for an accessories company for 6 months. I knew it was not right for me. I also traveled to different countries to explore the world. I learned so much from this period. When I went back to school to finish my senior year, my mind was brighter and I was more confident with what I was doing.

The last reason was that there were so many things I wanted to do outside of work. And those couple of hours after work and on weekends were just not enough for me. Samsung occupied a lot of my time and energy, and I knew that the only way for me to achieve my other goals was to quit.

During my leave, I studied for the CFA, which allowed me to expand my financial knowledge, I started content creation which grew my following to 5,000 followers in just about 3 months, and I also learned 3D printing to start my own business.

Everyone else was pushed out the door. I just finally decided to open it myself. Now I'm ready. If you've got a project that needs a curious, restless designer, I think we'll get along just fine.
